If you haven’t heard of Nick Vegas or GreyScaleGorilla.com by now you are truly missing out on a great opportunity. When I was thinking of a website worthy of being put on the very first Website Wednesday many came to mind, but there isn’t a website in my mind that offers everything that GreyScaleGorilla.com offers by a long shot.
Not only does Nick Vegas offer great tutorials on software such as After Effects and Cinema 4D for free on his site, he spends a lot of time playing around with that software, showing his viewers the end result and challenging them to learn along side with him. To push his viewers further with their education he challenges them with 5 Second Projects which are producing some great results from all corners of the industry. On top of that he has a weekly show on Ustream where he holds reel critiques for anyone who wants to put their reel on the chopping block and live chat where he answers any questions thrown at him.

Of course, all of this wouldn’t mean much compared to the next website if it wasn’t for Nick’s constant use and love of social media. The fact that he is always on twitter, his blog, Ustream and whatever other social media outlet he can find is what really sets him and his website apart from the rest. He isn’t afraid to meet his audience head-on, answering any questions they may have and challenging them to do better. He pushes them to go further and not be afraid to push themselves by learning, however small or slow that may be. He truly and honestly wants to help new designers improve their skills and he makes this happen by embracing everything social media has to offer and the industry is better for it.
