Following the same path of websites such as Lynda.com is FxPhd.com, a website that allows you to continue your education and keep up in the ever changing digital world that we live in. This website, unlike the others, is specifically aimed at the visually effects and motion graphics department as well as well as some great courses dealing with film-making, lighting and the like.
FxPhd.com is set up much like traditional colleges where you sign up for a term (four terms, or quarters, per year) and select three classes per term. The courses are posted online for you to view and download, and are instructed by some of the biggest names in the industry. I wouldn’t be surprised if you find yourself learning along with some of the biggest names in the industry as well. On top of that their forums are some of the best for getting help on any of the courses and answers to any of the questions you may have. You pay for one term at a time and get a certificate upon completion of the course and you get a lot of leeway with how much you throw into your project, but remember you only get as much as you put in. To top it off you are not required to commit to a long term contract which is perfect for all of us busy professionals.
At the very least you should take a look at what FxPhd.com offers because it really does offer quite a bit of bang for your buck.
